Whether it’s sale time or just Saturday… such shopping joy!
But (there’s always a but, right) do you want to just go out shopping and splurge – again – on stuff you don’t really need and may never wear more than once, or at all?
Is that truly a bargain? No, it’s not.
So, here’s our strategic shopping recommendations, for any time of year, that will serve you especially well during sale time.
Plan your Attack
Get your game plan going girl. Figure out what you have already, what you want to keep and what needs replacing, and make a list of pieces you actually will wear, that will complement what’s already in your wardrobe.
Check the website, and look for pieces that are classic, that are versatile for mix and match outfits, that you could wear year-round, and that are on-trend for what’s coming up this year.
Then head out knowing exactly where you’re going, with at least an idea of what you’re looking for when you get there.
Know Your Size
This is SO important, and the number one reason for picking up the wrong thing in a panic. Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean knowing that you wear a size 6 shoe or a 12 in dresses.
Instead, know your size in the item/s you have your eye on. One tip is that when you see something you like, and you know there’s a sale coming up (join our Redlane Style Club newsletter for first notice on sales through the year!), you can go try it on and confirm your size, then just wait for it to get discounted.
Sale items go fast, so if you know the size you need ahead of time, you can just grab it quickly once the price drop happens.
Use the ‘5 times’ Rule
Don’t buy just because it’s on sale. A bargain is not a bargain if it’s not you, doesn’t fit correctly, you don’t love it, or it doesn’t fill a legitimate gap you have. That’s not a real need.
Besides those times you’re shopping for specific occasion wear… If you see a regular item you like, but it’s too dressy, or different, from what you can wear to work, or casually, just press pause there.
Can you think of 5 ways to wear it? If yes, go ahead and get it!
If you feel it’s too niche and can’t think of more than one occasion to wear it to, drop it – not a good idea!
